Sealers
Product Guide
For more information, see the Product Selection Guide.
Suggestions for sealers include, but are not limited to, the following:
- This section describes acrylic sealers that provide a permanent finish. If a dissipating, membrane-forming curing compound with no permanent finish is required, then refer to the Curing Compounds section.
- These decorative sealers are typically used for commercial and residential concrete floor surfaces to enhance and protect the colors and finishes created by concrete stamping, texturing and staining.
- When used for sealing, these products should be applied to concrete surfaces after proper cleaning. The concrete surface must be free of any residual color and any dirt, oil, grime or other contaminants.
- Sealers must be applied to decorative and/or standard concrete surfaces that are at least 7 days old.
- Previously applied curing compounds or coatings must be removed prior to application of decorative sealers. Cleaning methods include shotblasting, sandblasting, high pressure water blasting and/or safe floor stripper.
- Water-based decorative sealers need thorough agitation before each use, but do not over agitate them or use high speed mixing equipment.
- Always apply decorative sealers at the specified rate (typically 200 ft2/gallon, 4.9 m2/liter). Two applications, installed at right angles to each other, provide uniform and consistent coverage.
- Apply decorative sealers with low pressure spray using a wide angle, flat, fan-type nozzle (approx. 15 psi, 0.1 MPa). A lambs wool roller is an acceptable alternative for small areas or restricted conditions.
