The Design-Crete concrete stamping system changes ordinary gray concrete surfaces into exceptional architectural design.
A combination of colors and special tools are used to permanently imprint newly placed concrete. Detailed stone, brick or tile patterns can be simulated in a variety of colors and authentic looking textures at a fraction of the cost of comparable natural materials.
The Design-Crete concrete stamping system can be applied to almost any newly placed horizontal concrete surface, including sidewalks, driveways, entrances, lobbies, showrooms, patios, pool decks and more.
See the Answers to Questions page for links to information about all of the decorative concrete systems! |

Form and place concrete in the conventional manner...

...broadcast color hardener and trowel into surface...

...broadcast release agent and stamp concrete.
|
Typical Design-Crete application steps include:
- Form and place the concrete slab scheduled for stamping in a conventional manner. Screed and float the surface as required.
- Select a color hardener and broadcast the material evenly over the concrete surface. Work the material into the surface, integrating the color with the concrete.
- Average color hardener application rate will vary depending on job conditions:
lbs./sq. ft. |
Color |
| 0.6 |
Brick Red, Charcoal, Desert Sand, Durango Tan, Quarry Red, Rust, Sand, Terra Cotta, Walnut |
| 0.7 |
Bluestone, Classic Gray, French Gray, Light Gray |
| 0.8 |
Cherokee, Dark Slate, Pewter, Rose Taupe, Sage, Veranda |
| 1.0 |
Ash White, Bone, Coquina, Cream, Oyster White |
- Broadcast additional material to intensify the final color appearance if necessary. Work the material into the surface, integrating the color with the concrete.
- Monitor the concrete for set time and be prepared to work quickly. When the concrete will support the weight of one worker and still allow an impression, begin the stamping operation.
- Select a color powder release and broadcast the material evenly over the concrete surface. Apply color release at an average application rate of 3.0 lbs./100 sq. ft. for maximum performance. Or apply Clear Liquid Release as specified on container.
- Begin stamping the concrete with one of the 25 different tool kits available. Carefully place each tool on the concrete surface, one after the other. Walk on the back of each tool to leave the impression.
- Move the stamping tools quickly and consistently to texture the entire concrete surface. Special half tools and texture mats are available for use at slab edges and near walls or corners.
- Allow the concrete slab to thoroughly cure before rinsing residual powder release from the surface. Make sure surface is clean.
- Decorative Sealer (High Solids) - UV Resistant, a non-yellowing acrylic, should be applied in two applications to protect the Design-Crete surface and reduce maintenance.
