Shear-Wall Concrete Forming System
Self-climbing concrete form system for tight spots
This building was situated so close to adjacent elevated train tracks that lifting shear wall forms with a crane would mean that the forms could swing over a working track. The Chicago Transit Authority would not permit this.
The answer was to design a hydraulically lifted form that could jack itself up one floor at a time. This jacking system carried both the inside and outside forms.
