Symons Silver™ Forming System
Lightweight aluminum forms designed for productive residential and low wall forming
Symons Silver aluminum design features large 3' wide panels. These panels allow workers to set and strip more forming contact area, increasing productivity for residential concrete construction.
The Symons Silver forming system combines 0.125" aluminum face sheet with welded siderails, crossmembers and gussets for form durability. Hardened steel plate bushings protect the siderails at connection points and provide accurate alignment between components. The complete system provides a safe 1,000 psf load rating.
The Symons Silver system consists of more than 200 panel and filler sizes (listed below), with 6-12 or 8-8 hole configurations, in a smooth or brick-faced option. When combined with corners, ties and hardware, Symons Silver provides a totally integrated residential concrete forming system.
- Symons has only one face thickness on all smooth face forms: 0.125 inches. This thick face sheet means less deflection, and a single thickness means less chance for confusion.
- A brick face is available. It looks similar to the brick face offered by competitors, but the Symons Silver end rail protects the face sheet from damage along the edge.
- Symons Silver comes in standard heights of 1' to 9' in 1' increments. Widths available are 4", 6", 7", 8", and increase in 2" increments up to 36". Steel fillers of 1", 1½" and 2" widths combine with other sizes to create virtually any dimension required.
- Symons offers 6-12 and 8-8 hole spacing for design flexibility.
- All panels, fillers and hardware are compatible. The patented one-piece waler bracket and 45° bay corner can also be used with other aluminum systems.
- Contractors can expect up to 2,000 pours with proper care.
- We recommend the use of Symons Action Kote Form Release. Action Kote is a mineral oil blend that produces a controlled chemical reaction at the formwork and concrete interface. This controlled reaction helps minimize concrete surface "dusting" and provides up to 3,000 sf of coverage per gallon.
- A typical panel measures 3' x 8' and weighs 85 pounds. Forms weighing less usually have thinner face sheets.
- The Symons Silver standard "W" tie has an ultimate capacity of 7,400 lbs.
